Teach your grandparents how to surf the net!

The coronavirus epidemic is making life more difficult for all of us, especially for older people living alone, who are becoming increasingly isolated from the outside world because of the restrictions. Keeping in touch can be made easier with a computer, a tablet and especially a smartphone, which most older people now have but are not fully aware of its potential.

The most effective way to teach them how to use their smartphones for much more than making and receiving calls is to teach them the 'virtuosos' of the genre, today's generation of teenagers and twenty-somethings, the grandchildren.

However, learning is not easy, especially for older people, and the BESS - Be Smart Seniors project is trying to help them to do this and is looking for young people who would like to take part in this initiative.

The BESS website provides a good basis for teaching, with tutorial videos featuring "Grandma Bess" asking questions about internet services and her granddaughter answering them. The videos will help you to get started, but for more complex applications you will need the help of young people.
