WAMDIA: We All Make Digital Information Accessible
The WAMDIA (We All Make Digital Information Accessible) project aims to change the way everyday users think about making digital information accessible. Because we can all contribute to making digital information accessible to everyone, regardless of disability, illness, browsing device, computer literacy or age.
Digital accessibility is not just a task for professionals developing websites and mobile apps. In fact, everyone can contribute to making digital information accessible by making files (e.g. word-processed documents, presentations or PDFs) that are intended for sharing or for the general public accessible.
Even the best website with accessibility can be ruined if it has even one uploaded file that is not accessible, leaving content creators, content editors and content managers of websites with a lot of work to do when uploading content.
Accessibility of web applications and websites is not only necessary for people with disabilities — it is actually useful for a much wider range of users.
WAMDIA not only wants to change the general thinking about web accessibility, but also to prepare people for accessibility activities by teaching simple techniques that anyone with basic digital skills can apply in their daily lives.
