What students said about online education

Recently, as part of a project assignment, we invited dozens of students from a vocational high school in Budapest, including graduates, to an online discussion to ask them about their experiences of online education.

In particular, we wanted to find out how much they have improved as a result of the online system and how they see the future of this form of education compared to face-to-face teaching.

Students all agreed that online education cannot replace face-to-face meetings and learning because

"the teacher is there and can help you immediately if you get stuck. However, in the future it could be useful if someone misses a class, if either the student or the teacher falls ill, because by streaming the lessons online, no one misses out."

On how they themselves have improved since they started teaching online, they said:

"It's a challenge because when I encounter a problem, I don't have the teacher by my side, so I have to solve it myself. So I became more motivated to solve problems, because I have to succeed..."

"In using different apps, which have also helped me to be able to remind each other of assignments to be handed in or help each other with something."

„A különböző alkalmazások használatában, amik abban is segítettek, hogy tudjuk egymást emlékeztetni a beadandó feladatokra, vagy segítsünk egymásnak valamiben.”

The students also said that teachers assign more tasks than they usually do in face-to-face lessons, so they sometimes have to sit in front of the computer almost from morning till night. And even today's young people don't like to spend that much time online...
