Let's use lasers more wisely! — We have developed a vocational training curriculum

More than 90% of laser system operators are interested in free training and intensive online laser safety courses, according to a survey of laser technology companies, contractors and professionals at the start of the Laser Safety Erasmus+ project. Operators and managers from small and large companies also expressed a preference for:

• the effects of laser radiation on the eyes and skin,
• basics of lasers and optics, 
• administrative and engineering laser safety requirements. 

Such training was developed by participants in the project Laser Safety: Web-based laser safety modules in vocational training as a result of the programme. 

For laser technology users, the project partners have developed an online learning material consisting of 4 modules covering the following topics: 

• basics of physics and optics of lasers,
• basics of laser safety,
• engineering solutions and administration of laser safety, 
• foreign language skills for laser safety.

An educational project on the safe use of laser technology could be a very useful tool for small businesses in fields such as mechanical engineering and metalworking, health, cosmetics, jewellery, production and promotion of printed products in the military field, etc.
